Candy Cigarette

Candy Cigarette

The picture symbolizes my perception  of kids now a days. Today, children in our society try to grow up so fast that they forget that they are still kids and instead of rushing everything, should savor every second of it.

The kid in the stilts who is blurry in the background: To me he is blurry because kids in this generation do not know the true meaning of "playing outside." They would rather stay indoors and spend hours and hours of playing video games, glued to their phones or iPads, and even watch television. They do not know the true meaning of "go play outside with their friends."

The girl in the foreground with the cigarette: Kids now a  days would think that she is "cool" because she is smoking. In reality, she represents the lost of innocence of the childhood that this, my generation lacks. The cigarette represents all the electronics that is out there, how kids WANT it, and how they NEED it. In reality, however, it sucks away the inner child in them.

The girl on the right of the girl with a cigarette: This girl sums up where I would fall into place in our society. While I'm up to date with all the gadgets, and electronics that the twenty first century has to offer, I still reminisce about my childhood where I would play and sweat under the shimmering sun with my friends and just have a good time.

But like the boy in the stilts, that idea of playing outside is nothing more than a distant memory.
